【摘要】:Overtestingshouldbedonewhen(a)testingbyvariablesisimpracticalbecauseoftimeandcostconsiderationsorbecausetheprobabilitydistributionofstresstofailurecannotbeestimatedwithsufficientaccuracy,and(b)anunrealisticallylargenumberofpartswouldhavetobetestedatthespecificationstressforthenecessaryconfidenceandsurvivalprobability.1.1Thisguidecoverstheuseofovertestinginordertoreducetherequirednumberofpartsthatmustbetestedtomeetagivenqualityacceptancestandard.Overtestingistestingasamplenumberofpartsatastresshigherthantheirspecificationstressinordertoreducetheamountofnecessarydatataking.Thisguidediscusseswhenandhowovertestingmaybeappliedtoformingprobabilisticestimatesforthesurvivalofelectronicpiecepartssubjectedtoradiationstress.Someknowledgeoftheprobabilitydistributiongoverningthestress-to-failureofthepartsisnecessarythoughexactknowledgemaybereplacedbyover-conservativeestimatesofthisdistribution.
