【摘要】:nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;Therotatingcage(RC)testsystemisrelativelyinexpensivesystemthatusesflatspecimenstoassesstheeffectofflowacrossaspecimenonthecorrosionthatoccursonthespecimen.Thissystemdoesnotproduceaneasilycharacterizedflowsystembutitisadjustableoverawiderangeofflowratesandusesreadilyavailablespecimens.(1-11).nbsp;nbsp;nbsp;TheRCmethodcanbeusedtoevaluateeithercorrosioninhibitorsormaterialsorboth.GuideG184describestheproceduretouserotatingcagetoevaluatecorrosioninhibitors.Inthistestmethod,ageneralprocedureispresentedtoobtainreproducibleresultsusingatmosphericpressureRCdescribedinGuideG184tosimulatetheeffectsofdifferenttypesofcouponmaterials,inhibitorconcentrations,oil,gasandsolutioncompositions,andflow.Oilfieldfluidsmayoftencontainsand;however,thistestmethoddoesnotcovererosiveeffectsthatoccurwhensandispresent.1.1Thistestmethodcoversagenerallyacceptedproceduretoconducttherotatingcage(RC)experimentunderatmosphericpressure.1.2ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Thevaluesgiveninparenthesesareforinformationonly.1.3Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
