【摘要】:Thetrapezoidtearmethodisatestthatproducestensionalongareasonablydefinedcoursesuchthatthetearpropagatesacrossthewidthofthespecimen.Thetrapezoidtearingstrengthforwovenfabricsisdeterminedprimarilybythepropertiesoftheyarnsthataregrippedintheclamps.Innonwovenfabrics,becausetheindividualfibersaremoreorlessrandomlyorientedandcapableofsomereorientationinthedirectionoftheappliedload,themaximumtrapezoidtearingstrengthisreachedwhentheresistancetofurtherreorientationisgreaterthantheforcerequiredtoruptureoneormorefiberssimultaneously.Thetrapezoidtearingstrengthmethodisusefulforestimatingtherelativetearresistanceofdifferentfabricsordifferentdirectionsinthesamefabric.Thistestmethodmaybeusedforacceptancetestingofcommercialshipments;however,cautionisadvisedsinceinformationaboutbetween-laboratoryprecisionisincomplete.Comparativetestsasdirectedin5.3.1maybeadvisable.Incaseofadisputearisingfromdifferencesinreportedtestresultswhenusingthistestmethodforacceptancetestingofcommercialshipments,thepurchaserandthesuppliershouldconductcomparativeteststodetermineifthereisastatisticalbiasbetweentheirlaboratories.Competentstatisticalassistanceisrecommendedfortheinvestigationofbias.Asaminimum,thetwopartiesshouldtakeagroupoftestspecimensthatareashomogeneousaspossibleandthatarefromalotofmaterialofthetypeinquestion.Testspecimensshouldthenberandomlyassignedinequalnumberstoeachlaboratoryfortesting.TheaverageresultsfromthetwolaboratoriesshouldbecomparedusingtheappropriateStudent''st-testandanacceptableprobabilitylevelchosenbythetwopartiesbeforetestingisbegun.Ifabiasisfound,eitheritscausemustbefoundandcorrectedorthepurchaserandthesuppliermustagreetointerpretfuturetestresultsinthelightoftheknownbias.Mostgeotextilefabricscanbetestedbythistestmethod.Somemodificationofclampingtechniquesmaybenecessaryforagivenfabric,dependinguponitsstructure.Specialadaptationmaybenecessarywithstrongfabrics,orfabricsmadefromglassfibers,topreventthemfromslippingintheclampsorbeingdamagedasaresultofbeinggrippedintheclamps.Thistestmethodmaybeusedwithconstant-rate-of-traverse(CRT)orconstant-rate-of-extension(CRE)typetensionmachines.However,theremaybenooverallcorrelationbetweentheresultsobtainedwiththeCRTmachineandtheCREmachine.Consequently,thesetwotensiontesterscannotbeusedinterchangeably.Incaseofcontroversy,theCREmachineshallprevail.1.1Thistestmethodisanindextestusedtomeasuretheforcerequiredtocontinueorpropagateatearinwovenornon-wovengeotextilesbythetrapezoidmethod.Whileusefulforqualitycontrolandacceptancetesting,thetrapezoidteartestdoesnotprovidealltheinformationneededforalldesignapplicationsandothertestmethodsshouldbeused.1.2Thistestmethodisapplicabletomostgeotextilesthatincludewovenfabrics,nonwovenfabrics,layeredfabrics,knitfabrics,andfeltsthatareusedforgeotextileapplications.1.3ThevaluesstatedinSIunitsaretoberegardedasthestandard.Nootherunitsofmeasurementareincludedinthisstandard.1.4Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.
